On this day in 1969 our Skyfari aerial tram was born. Since then it’s had over 64 million riders. Re-blog if you’re one of them. Happy 43rd Birthday Skyfari!

Condor egg “pipped” on Flickr.
Our condor egg began to pip (the process of a chick breaking through its egg shell) this morning! The process can take 48 to 72 hours until the chick emerges. Keep a close eye on Condor Cam, and you may see the first condor chick to hatch live online! Suggest names for the chick in the Chumash language (use this visual dictionary to help with translation) on the Wildlife Conservancy’s Facebook wall or on Twitter by using the hashtag #CondorName. The people who suggest the best names will win a prize and their suggestions will be put to an online vote later this month. Suggestions will be accepted through March 15.

Taken with takins by Stinkersmell on Flickr.Fun fact: The large, moose-like snout has big sinus cavities to warm up the air a takin inhales before it gets to the lungs. Without this adaptation, takins would lose a large amount of body heat just by breathing.
